Where can I find the best airfare prices?

Please fill out this FORM – this is for airfare only questions. For hotel stays, Click [HERE]. For transfer questions Click [HERE]. AIRFARE, HOTEL and TRANSFERS will not be available until May 2016. You may fill out the forms now, but we will not get back to you until next year.

How do I get to the ship from the airport?

Transfers may be purchased from the port city airport to the ship and from the ship to the port city airport on day of embarkation and disembarkation only; and between airport to hotel and hotel to airport. Transfers are available to Flight Ease guests and to guests who have independent flight plans.

Guests with independent flight arrangements who wish to purchase transfers must advise Holland America Line of their flight information at least 14 days prior to departure by completing Online Check-in. Unused transfers are not refundable.

Can I stay in Venice, Italy before or after the cruise?

We will be negotiating group rates with several major hotels Venice, Italy. If you are traveling from the U.S. – we strongly suggest you arrive a day early.

What time do we need to board the ship?

Due to new government regulations requiring cruise lines to submit final departure manifests at least 60 minutes prior to sailing, guests are requested to complete Online Check-in no later than 3 days prior to their cruise. If you do not complete Online Check-in 3 days prior, you will be required to complete this process at the pier at least two hours prior to the published sailing time. Please note: All guests must be checked-in and onboard the ship no later than 90 minutes prior to the published sailing time or you will not be permitted to sail.

Are meals included in the price?

All meals (except at the specialty restaurants) are included. That also includes room service!

Using WiFi, Cell Phones and Internet on the Westerdam

You can access the internet on the Westerdam — there is WiFi on the entire ship. There is also an internet cafe on the Westerdam.

The Westerdam does provide PC’s in an Internet cafe (Explorations) on Deck 10 (Observation Deck). However, if you want to bring your WiFi-enabled laptop, iPhone, PDA, etc., the entire ship is WiFi enabled. You can choose from the Holland America “pay-as-you” go rate for a one-time activation charge, and, a per minute rate. Alternatively, you can buy a block of non-refundable minutes.

You can make and receive phone calls and text messages (SMS) while onboard the Westerdam.

Cell phone roaming is enabled on the Westerdam, however, the system can be pricey as the price plans feature international roaming rates and data charges (this can be very expensive). Contact your mobile phone operator to ensure that your account is activated for international roaming and inquiry as to per minute rates and data charges.

Using WiFi, Cell Phones and Internet on the Westerdam Tips:

  • Some free minutes may be offered the first day during embarkation. Check with the Internet manager for specific details.
  • It doesn’t matter whether you bring your own computer or use the computers on the ship. The price is the same.
  • Think dial up speed when connecting on the ship. If you are sending emails, get all your writing done offline and then just connect when you actually send them.

Is there a Payment Plan?

Yes, the deposit of $450/pp – Standard Staterooms; $550/pp – Veranda Staterooms; $650/pp – Suites is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable. Final balance is due JANUARY 15, 2017. More information on Payment Plans here.

Are Visa's or Passports Required for Travel?

For United States Citizens:No visa is needed. A valid passport is required.

For Non-United States Citizens: You must have a valid passport and any necessary visas for travel. Please carefully verify the existing identification requirements for your particular travel situation with your local consulate. In addition, non-U.S. citizens who have previously been admitted to the United States for permanent residence must carry their Permanent Residence Card (Form I-551), commonly known as a Green Card. Resident aliens not in possession of this must obtain one at the nearest office of the United States Immigration Service.

What do I have to pay for while I am on the cruise?

Anything in the gift shops, shore excursions, alcohol, sodas and the specialty restaurants.

What should I pack?

We suggest that you have layers for the days in port and at sea. Whatever you wear at home that you are comfortable in is what you can wear when at port. We suggest resort casual for dining as no jeans, shorts, T-shirts or swimwear are allowed in the dining areas.

Is there a gym on the ship?

Do I need a Passport?

For States Citizens: A valid passport is required for all travel outside of the United States. Passports must not expire within six months after your date of travel in order to be considered valid.

For Non-United States Citizens: You must have a valid passport and any necessary visas for travel. What do you do when the ship is in port?

There are a host of shore excursions that you can choose from. You can sign up onboard, or signup online before you travel. If you stay onboard you can relax by the pool, read a book or just hang out.

Will I get seasick?

Chances are you will not. However, if you tend towards motion sickness, you can purchase something over the counter or see your Doctor before you go.
