The Goddaughter of musical legends Quincy Jones and Dinah Washington and a professional since age five, Patti Austin has been able to explore almost every genre of music though her 30 year career. A recording artist in her teens, Patti recorded for labels like Decca/Coral/RCA and United Artist working with artists such as Michael Jackson, George Benson, Roberta Flack, Tom Browne, Houston Person, Noel Pointer, Ralph McDonald and Angela Bofill. It was her work with Quincy Jones in the early 80s that would bring her the credit her smoky, soulful voice deserved. Appearing on Jones's The Dude ("Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me," "Razmatazz") set the stage for her Qwest label debut, the wonderful Every Home Should Have One, and its smash duet with James Ingram, "Baby Come To Me." Patti Austin has carved a niche as a wonderful interpreter of soul, jazz, scat and adult contemporary music and is a true artist whose creativity knows no boundaries.
