2022 Dave Koz Cruise - Sailing FAQ

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding COVID testing and protocols. Expanded details can be found on here.

The Dave Koz Cruise 2022 is a fully vaccinated cruise. You must have received your 2nd dose of the vaccine in the last 9 months, if not, you will need a booster dose for entry.

A negative COVID test, taken within (2) two days of sailing, will be required prior to boarding.

As we all understand the current risk of travel, it is important to be well informed ahead of your trip.

For the purpose of entering The Netherlands, to be considered “up-to-date”, guests must have received all doses in their vaccine series and have received their booster, if the second vaccine was administered over 270 days (9 months) ago.

You can view detailed entry requirements by visiting the government of the Netherlands webpage.

Download “Vaccine declaration COVID-19”, complete and print for arrival into Netherlands

For the purpose of embarking Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas, to be considered “up-to-date”, guests must have received all doses in their vaccine series and have received their booster, if the second vaccine was administered over 270 days (9 months) ago.

Currently there are no requirements active in the 4 countries on your itinerary. This is subject to change.

Masks are optional for vaccinated guests. Masks will be required in the cruise terminal and may be required at various destinations. These protocols are subject to change. Crew members will be wearing masks during the cruise.

NOTE: Please respect the wishes of performers who may be somewhat more cautious than usual in protecting themselves, so that they can complete their musical activities for the benefit of all guests.

  • Health Questionnaire to be completed on theRoyal Caribbean App the day before boarding.
  • Passport/European ID Card is needed for all guests with a validity of at least 6 months after their sailing’s return date. EU Nationals may also present their European ID card.
  • Proof of Vaccine must be presented by all guests. Acceptable proof of vaccination must be in the form of the original vaccination record document issued by your country’s health authority or healthcare provider that administered the vaccination, with the full cycle of doses being completed no less than 14 days prior to sailing. Guests living in the EU are advised to present their EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate.

Should you test positive for COVID-19 while testing prior to sailing ((2) two days or less), you and your travel party may also be subject to any quarantine regulations or other travel restrictions that are in place locally for COVID-19 positive travelers. The Dave Koz Cruise & Flying Dutchmen Travel will use their best efforts to assist guests who cannot board due to a positive Covid test result. If you do test positive, please call the 24 Hour Flying Dutchmen Help Line on 707-576-8000 (for emergencies only).

No, due to the specific boarding day processes required to evaluate the health of everyone onboard, we cannot have guests join the cruise at a later port once the sailing has embarked from Amsterdam.

In addition to our booking terms or cruise ticket contract — which all guests must accept — guests will be required to acknowledge the risks associated with pathogen transmission during their voyage and on tours or other shoreside experiences at our destinations, as well as agree to follow all of our health and safety policies at all times. Failure to agree with Royal Caribbean terms and conditions or accept the requisite health acknowledgments will result in a denial of boarding, and your inability to participate in tours and shoreside experiences.

Muster drills are an important part of ensuring our guests’ safety. The key elements of the safety drill, called the Guest Safety Briefing, is available right on your mobile device or stateroom TV — including reviewing what to expect, where to go in case of an emergency, and how to properly use a life jacket. After reviewing safety information on your own, you can complete the drill by visiting your assigned assembly station on the ship, where a crew member will verify that all steps have been completed and answer any questions. This process eliminates the need for a group drill.

If any of our guests or crew members ever feel unwell during their sailing, they can be immediately evaluated by medical staff, with an in-stateroom visit or by video tele-consultation. Rapid COVID-19 tests can be conducted right onboard in the medical lab that allows for rapid, accurate onsite PCR testing with results in under an hour, alongside a multitude of other evaluative tests. This is just one capability of the enhanced Medical Center where more doctors and nurses, upgraded equipment, and a dedicated Controlled Care Center where potentially infectious guests or crew can be cared for away from general medical areas.

In the event any of our guests or crew tests positive for COVID-19 onboard, Royal Caribbean have a robust, tiered response plan in place that has been developed with guidance from local authorities and leading public health experts. In partnership with local authorities, Royal Caribbean has developed transport protocols to ensure the ship can return to port and debark all our guests.

In the interest of public health onboard, Royal Caribbean currently follows U.S. CDC guidance. This includes requiring isolation and/or quarantine to prevent exposure to people who have or may have COVID-19. A guest that tests positive for COVID-19 will need to isolate onboard for a period of time — either until they can be safely disembarked at a port of call or when the sailing concludes back at the homeport where it started. Those guests who meet the threshold to be deemed a close contact, will need to meet necessary quarantine and/or testing requirements based on their vaccination status.

Guests who must isolate due to a positive COVID-19 test result will be moved to a stateroom near the medical center where medical staff and Guest Services will check on them regularly. Complimentary amenities including room service and WiFi will be provided.

Once ashore, local, state, and federal guidelines for isolation should be followed. The Dave Koz Cruise and Flying Dutchmen Travel will do their best to provide assistance to guests who have tested positive for COVID-19 onboard and are disembarking in Amsterdam.

Guests who test positive for COVID-19 will move to isolation staterooms that are closer to the Medical Center and will enjoy complimentary amenities like Wi-Fi and room service, along with regular visits or tele-consultations with medical staff to monitor their wellness.

For your return to home travel, we currently have two recommendations for testing:

*Airport Testing –Testing is available at Test2Fly at the Schiphol Airport.

You can test at Schiphol Airport by making a reservation here.

*Monitored Self-Test Kit – Abbott Binaxnow™ COVID-19 AG Card

Order At-home Test Kit

These tests allow you to complete your pre-flight test within 48 hours of boarding your flight to the USA with the help of live video supervision by a Certified Guide. Your results are typically ready in about 15 minutes. The cost for COVID-19 test kits may be covered by your health insurance plan. Please check with your insurance provider for coverage benefits. Order At-home Test KitPlease note that these tests require a strong internet connection. Please note that the Abbot Binaxnow test is useable for all guests flying to the USA.   Switch Health can be used for guests flying to Canada. If you are traveling to any other worldwide location after the cruise, we kindly ask you to review that nation’s protocols for entry.

If you test positive for Covid 19 on disembarkation day prior to flying (May 20 or 27) please contact the Flying Dutchmen 24 hour help line at 707-576-8000 (for emergencies only) and our best efforts will be made to assist you in finding self-isolating accommodations.

If you continue to test positive, contact the country of destination to find out about the entry rules for that particular country.

  • For the USA – If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you are cleared to travel).

Casual attire is the order of the day, both on board and ashore. Daytime, it’s basically fine since we know you’re probably headed to the pool or out for a fun Shore Excursion. Casual shorts, jeans, tops and sundresses are welcome everywhere. You can even wear your swimsuit to the poolside grill or the buffet. Resort casual dress gets you into every venue at night too. Some people like to add a jacket, or when celebrating a special occasion, get all decked out. This too is welcome everywhere. And if you’re tired from a long fun day and just want to wear shorts; our buffet is the place for a casual dinner. Some people prefer nice jeans. They’re welcome in many of our restaurants as well, but not in all. Since all suitcases are collected the night before we return home, don’t forget to bring an overnight bag packed with a change of clothes, prescriptions, and need-to-have items.

Once On-Board

There are 2 options to stay connected while onboard.

1. VOOM Wireless Internet Access (Wi-Fi) All you need is a wireless device with wifi capability.

2. Wired (iCafes) Internet stations are available onboard, the location of which vary depending on the ship.

VOOM is available onboard all ships fleetwide. Prices for internet access vary and are subject to change. Log on to the to the network “”royal-wifi”” using your device, open your browser and follow instructions to log on.

VOOM is the name of our high-speed internet service, the fastest internet at sea.

With the installation of VOOM, you are no longer confined to a specific location on the ship to have connectivity. You can now stay connected from the comfort of your own stateroom, while you lounge by the pool and even while having a drink at the Schooner Bar.

VOOM is 6x faster than any other internet at sea! For the first time you will be able to stream music and movies, upload pictures, video chat with family and friends using FaceTime or Skype, check your email, look your stock prices, surf the web and stay connected with work.

Royal Caribbean is the only cruise line with high speed internet at sea. Whether you have your phone, tablet, or laptop, VOOM allows guests to stay connected. VOOM is available onboard all ships fleetwide. Each one of our VOOM ships gets its signal directly from a satellite beam dedicated to our ships that orbits close to the Earth allowing us to offer fast and reliable service.

The cost of VOOM varies by the number of devices and the service package purchased. We recommend that guests purchase VOOM pre-cruise to enjoy the biggest discount from onboard prices. Simply log in to My Cruises, and go to Cruise Planner.

Guests who have a reservation with payment may also contact 1-800-398-9819 for Pre-Cruise Planning Assistance.

We will release the schedule of concerts and events during embarkation. Please know that this is not something we do to torture you…but that the schedule is a delicate balancing act and we want to be sure we have made every necessary change before we release it to you. We don’t want you to miss anything due to having an incomplete or altered schedule!
There are two main Theatre concerts each night, with the same artists performing in each. When you book your cruise, you will be given your dinner time (Early or Late) the opposite will be your show time each night of the cruise.

All performances on the Dave Koz & Friends at Sea Cruise are general admission — seating is first come, first served. Please help to keep ADA seating areas clear for those guests who need special assistance.

Fixed lens camera photography is permitted everywhere on board, but please refrain from flash photography and use of tablets, iPads, selfie sticks, etc. in all indoor venues. Use of drones and audio recording devices will not be permitted at performances.
